Free Thanksgiving Meals and Pet Supplies are to be Distributed to Camden Families Thanks to New York Giants Defensive Back Logan Ryan and Pet Organizations Teaming Up November 21 and 22
(Baltimore, MD. November 16, 2021) — Sometimes the best way to care for pets is to care for their people too. That’s why New York Giants Defensive Back, Logan Ryan, and his nonprofit, Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation (RARF) are teaming up with Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity (CARE) to make the holiday special for people and their pets. Social media influencer Keeping Finn is funding veterinary spay neuter and wellness services which will be offered at the event with the help of Emancipet Nonprofit Veterinary Services and Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, the local animal welfare organization in Camden. Purina will be donating thousands of pounds of cat and dog food.
On Tuesday, November 23, 600 Camden Neighbors will be shopping for free at a flash Thanksgiving community grocery store at The Neighborhood Center, located at 278 Kaighns Ave. in Camden, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Community members can pick up human food items, Purina ONE dog and cat food, as well as wellness vouchers for free or low-cost veterinary care and pet supplies like cat litter, leashes, and collars.
The organizations involved play a critical role in advancing equity and diversity in animal welfare. RARF partners with animal welfare organizations such as CARE and is dedicated to supporting the animal welfare community through adoption promotion, and financial and educational resources. For RARF’s founder, Ryan Logan, the event is giving back to his hometown. “I have a lot of connections in Camden. It’s where I was born. It’s where most of my extended family still live and work. Being able to support The Neighborhood Center is big. I know it has a direct impact on people and pets,” said Logan.
More pet food and human food donations are also welcomed. On Monday, November 22, from 8:30 to 3 p.m., the public is asked to drop off frozen turkeys and other Thanksgiving food items at the Neighborhood Center, while volunteers work to convert the center’s basketball court into a grocery store.
“We’re so fortunate Logan is working with the Neighborhood Center to make Thanksgiving special for the many families in Camden living with food insecurity this holiday, we’re also so proud to be able to partner with CARE to make a difference in the lives of pet owners who don’t have many resources for their cats and dogs,” said Michael Landis, Executive Director of the Neighborhood Center.
The media is invited to see this amazing display of generosity and teamwork on either November 22 or 23. Interviews are available as well.
