The Los Angeles Human and Animal Wellbeing (HAW) study was conducted in 2024 through a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach by a coalition of community-based organizations providing services in Los Angeles, CA, including: Communities for a Better Environment, Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity, Downtown Dog Rescue, Housing Equity Advocacy and Resource Team (HEART) LA, Loving Paws Inc., and the Paw Mission. The purpose of this study was to collect and analyze a variety of data to identify community-specific needs and priorities to advance racial equity in human and animal well-being in Los Angeles, CA. The findings from the focus groups that were conducted with 27 participants have been published in a peer-reviewed journal article (Morales et al., 2025, submitted). This report summarizes the data gathered from the 247 survey participants. These data can be used to develop and implement equitable, accessible, and communityled solutions that improve the quality of life for both people and their pets in Los Angeles, CA.
